Anyone who has been around The Good Earth for the past few years is well acquainted with our beautiful, talented and loveably eccentric Chef Isa DiIorio…or should I say, Isa Mottiar. Isa has been the genius behind many a wonderful idea, class, dish and event. Fortunately, some of her genius is captured in our just released “The Good Book” compilation of recipes. For those who have visited The Good Earth Winery patio this summer, they have been treated to Isa’s carefully designed menu.
It’s been a banner year for Isa. She has gotten pregnant and married at breakneck speed and now it’s time to bid adieu to our “Chick with Tongs” Chef Isa. This weekend marks the end of Isa’s tenure here at The Good Earth as our resident chef as she heads off to put up her feet and prepare for the arrival of her first little bundle of joy (if her little bump, is anything like our Isa, these may be the last quiet weeks she’ll enjoy for the next 18 years!). Oh, we won’t let her be a stranger. She’ll still pop in to help us with the odd event, perhaps prepare a “Moveable Feast” or two and help us in our transition. We’ll miss her – particulary our Chef Patrick who has worked with Isa behind the hot stoves for years even prior to coming to The Good Earth. They are like Bonnie & Clyde, Tom & Jerry and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde all rolled into one!
Isa is more than our resident chef. She is a loyal and dedicated member of our team but most of all she is a true friend. So, as she hangs up her tongs and trades them in for diaper pins (after all Shiraz is all about the organic way of life) we wish her good luck, good health, much joy and a BIG THANK YOU for her contribution to the success of The Good Earth!
We’ll keep you posted on the arrival of Isa’s little baby “mortadella” or “petit syrah” complete with cute pictures. She’ll check in from time to time with a report on how she is doing and her successes on nurturing the next generation of foodie. With Shiraz a winemaker of some reknown and Isa a “kick ass” chef, this kid has the genetics of a food and wine Olympian!
You’re soooo done Isa…farewell! It’s time to start some heavy duty nesting and prepare for your next creation. Good luck and keep us posted!!
