This past winter I forgot how busy life can be at The Good Earth and thought that it was time for us to host a fundraiser which would showcase some of the incredibly talented woman in Niagara. The intention of course was to raise awareness and funds for a worthy cause…something that helped out women.
I solicited the assistance of a dear friend of mine and she brought to my attention the fine work and services being provided by West Niagara Second Stage. These great folks provide housing and counseling for abused women and children in our community…a rural community where housing is not abundant and nosey neighbours abound.
The more I thought of it, the more excited I became. Just as in the times of the early settlers, we gathered a community of women to help their own. We are going to have a spectacular evening of entertainment from TiannaH , a fashion show courtesy of Tintern Road & Beauty Safari. We start the evening with sparkling from Sue-Ann Staff Estate Winery and enjoy the fine fare of so many of the area’s best female Chefs – our own Therese DeGrace, Stephanie Nicol and Catherine O’Donnell just to mention a few.
We all likely know someone who has been in an abusive relationship; whether it be verbal, emotional or physical. Often we feel so helpless and don’t know how to help. This is an opportunity to make a difference and help fund a very worthy cause. Lucky are we that don’t need this type of help. Let’s harness the power of woman and help offer our sisters in need a safe haven in our own community.
Tickets are limited and selling fast. Come out for some good fun, food and friendship. See you on May 23!
