Vineyard: Hemeris Vineyard (Beamsville Bench VQA)
ABV: 14%
RS: 2.8 g/L
The Vintage: 2020 was a beautiful, warm and dry growing season. Sunny fall conditions allowed for optimal ripeness, producing a full yet refined and structured wine.
Winemaking: The grapes were hand-picked and hand-sorted on October 8th, destemmed and cold soaked prior to fermentation. Fermentation took place in small open-top fermenters with twice daily punch downs. The wine aged in French and American oak barrels (26% new) for 20 months.
Description: Ripe plum, mulberry, strawberry and blackberry combine with coffee, cocoa nib, baking spice and oregano. A rich, structured palate brings cassis, cured meat, cumin, leather and graphite. Pronounced but soft tannins reflect the warmth of the vintage. Decanting is recommended. Can age for 9–10 years or more.
