2019 was a very late start and generally a cool, even, and dry growing season. Fall was sunny and warm, allowing us to wait and pick grapes later into the season to achieve optimal ripeness. The cooler season gave us a very refined and structured wine. On the nose, ripe plum, raspberry, and blackberry combine with mocha, spice, and lightly herbal background tones. A full-bodied, rich, and structured palate brings strawberry, mulberry, and bramble layered over baking spices, cocoa, coffee, and graphite. The tannic structure is a little more pronounced this vintage, so a good decant is recommended, however, that also means this wine can last 9-10 years or more in your cellar! This wine pairs well with anything full-flavoured, from steak and barbecue to cured meat and hard cheeses.
